Popular Poker Variations
Before discussing poker variations, we should outline the overall structures around which the games are built. The basic rules of regular poker variations remain the same, regardless of format.
However, when you play online poker, the format determines how the bets are placed, when the hand starts and ends, and the bet amount. Below are the formats used for different poker variations.
Tournaments
Poker tournaments are scheduled events. They have a fixed start time, and the game continues until one player owns all the chips. The main difference between tournaments and regular table games (cash games) is that chips have no value. Instead, you pay an entry fee to play. This amount allows you to have a stack of only valid chips in the tournament you are playing.
Your goal in the tournament is to build your chip stack by taking chips from other players. Blinds increase at certain intervals to ensure the tournament ends quickly and players who stay long enough win prize money.

Sit & Go (SNG)
